Toy for Kids

Do we Provide Toys to the Children?
Thatothersmayrise.org

Very recently I was asked this question:  Do we provide toys to the children we support?  There was also a follow-on intent to the question, If you do aren’t there more important things to spend money on then toys?  The answer to both questions is “YES”, but both have a caveat attached to them.  Please let me explain.  Toys are well, more than toys, they are more than the sum of their parts.  Toys can bring about new creativity, broaden imagination, develop thinking skills and some studies have shown can develop a sense of hope, of something bigger as toys are instruments of the imagination and can develop new interaction skills and hand eye coordination.  Where do the dollars come from to buy these toys, 100 percent from our own pockets, as we use any other dollars for medical, social and education / training needs.  All toys must be practical to the environment.  For example, buying an electronic toy with no ability to recharge on a regular basis or easy access to store or get batteries, just doesn’t make sense till that capacity to support is developed.  So Yes we provide toys on our dollars but also we are evaluating looking to make a drive for educational and sports toys in 2018.  And of course there is nothing wrong with a tire for play, I myself had many hours playing with car and truck tires...
